Extended Day Program
Our afternoon program runs from 3:00 – 6:00pm each school day; parents are charged separately for this program. Afternoons at ARS include healthy snack, homework time (and assistance as required) and a variety of enrichment and sports activities, including chess, foreign language, soccer, art, cooking and STEM-related activities. Violin, cello and piano lessons may also be arranged during after school hours for an additional fee. Below is a link to the registration form. We hope you will want to extend your child’s day at ARS in our afternoon program.
Alexander Robertson School students participate in social programs with The Manhattan Childrens Center, a school for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. These programs train typically-developing children, with the support and guidance of a trained staff member, to interact socially with children with autism. Our students learn ways to initiate conversations and teach social skills to these children. They model suitable social behaviors while playing in a small groups or sharing lunch.
At Alexander Robertson School we treasure our annual traditions. We make a practice of taking the children to orchestral performances, jazz concerts, ballet, art shows, and opera. Our children love their field trips to the cultural attractions of New York City. Our Halloween party, put on by the Parents' Association, is not to be missed. Holiday programs, multicultural celebrations, an annual Science Fair, poetry month, "Spring Fling" and end-of-year festivities help celebrate the accomplishments and the spirit of our children and our school community.
Each Friday morning, the children participate in an Assembly Program celebrating individual achievement as well as highlighting group spirit, group singing, and group attention to important issues. We are committed to developing the children's awareness and support of the needs of the world around us.
