During the 2020 pandemic a parent wrote: “We have no complaints or concerns, only gratitude! We couldn’t be happier with the boys’ education and the care they receive at ARS. We think you have handled COVID brilliantly and feel the boys are very safe. Thank you!!”
We’re delighted that you are interested in applying to the Alexander Robertson School. We’re here to help.
Getting to Know ARS
To decide whether ARS is a good fit for your child, we recommend taking a tour of the school, talking with families who have children enrolled here and meeting our staff. As parents ourselves we understand that the admissions process can be overwhelming and strive to make your experience at ARS as stress-free as possible.
Our Open House Tours are virtual and are held each Tuesday at 9AM. Please click below to book an appointment or to watch our virtual tour video.
You may also email us to arrange either a virtual, or a private tour, at your convenience. Or call us on 212-663-2844.
We are still accepting applications to grades that have openings for the 2020-21 school year. Please email the admissions office to find out about openings in the grade you are interested in before completing our online application. You may also call our Director of Enrollment Management, Joan Harrison, on 212-663-2844 if you need further assistance.
The full application is available here. Please fill it out, then arrange a time to bring your child in for an assessment interview. As part of the online application you will be asked to sign a release form so that your child’s current school or preschool can release a report directly to ARS.
consider the results along with the other parts of his or her application. We no longer require the ERB Test. Instead, we have developed our own brief assessment which measures your child’s cognitive and academic skills and also his social-emotional abilities. The assessment takes about a half-hour for Junior-K and Kindergarten applicants and is, for the most part, a fun and engaging experience. For applicants to older grades the assessment test will be a little longer.
ARS follows the Independent School Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY) guidelines and timetable. Applications submitted by early December will receive a decision letter in early February. Thereafter ARS will accept applications to Grades that have an opening.
